After finally settling in and having a good sleep, we woke up early on our second day in Tokyo to meet up with one of my best friends from the UK. Fiona had gotten a job at an eikaiwa in Osaka, and travelled up to Tokyo on the Shinkansen.
It was her first visit to Tokyo too! (Although she tells me Osaka is even more awesome :D)
This would also be the day that we took our first Tokyo metro train journey!

At first glance, Tokyo's subway system looked insanely complicated, but after a few trips it all seems simple enough. It's just a case of finding your destination on the map above the ticket machines to find out the cost of your journey, and then buying the corresponding ticket to allow you to pass through each stations ticket gates. |
Akihabara was pretty phenominal. Admittedly, we got a bit lost when we first arrived, but we soon stumbled into the awesomeness!
Here are just some of the things we got up to in Akihabara:
- Shopping at Don Quixote
- Buying manga and books at BookOff
- Playing arcade games at one of the SEGA game centres
- Eating at a Royal Host (green Fanta!)
- Searching endlessly for a cat cafe and never finding it.
- Accidentally confusing Japanese people
