This summer, my boyfriend and I spent two weeks in Tokyo.
Travelling to Japan was a huge ambition of mine starting way back when I was thirteen, and this was my very first visit.
It's an under statement of insanely large proportions to say that I was excited about this trip, having booked everything in January I spent the months leading up to departure creating a jam-packed itinerary for our time in Tokyo. I was pretty determined to see as much as I could!!
I was also excited about seeing two of my good friends. Hikaru, who had been a Tokyoite penpal of mine for some time, and Fiona, my childhood friend who came to work in an Eikaiwa in Osaka early 2014.
Our flight was quite early, but when you're excited who cares! :D
We left London at 09:10 on August 5th and flew to Frankfurt for a connecting flight at 18:20 (Frankfurt time), our flight arrived in Tokyo at 12:15 (Tokyo Time) on August 6th. All our flights were with Lufthansa and I have to say they were pretty good. The Tokyo flight had information in English, German and Japanese and in flight entertainment in a wide range of languages.
The in flight meals were fantastic too! We were given a little menu and could choose between western and Japanese food.
My meals consisted of:
White wheat noodles with wasabi
Ground poulard
Fruit salad
Chocolate
Omelette
Bread
Pineapple
The menu also offered onigiri or pastry, but I don't remember being offered either. Drink were of course free :)
Which meant alcohol! Though unfortunately, the second I tried to hand my boyfriend his beer I spilt it all over my skirt and arm rest. Yep, I'm just THAT clumsy. But it dried, and he forgave me instantly so all was well!
We also caught a glimpse of Fuji on the decent which was pretty awesome :)
I was buzzing!
