Before we left the UK I made sure to find out how exactly we would get from the airport to our hotel. Unfortunately, there was no coach scheduled to arrive at out hotel. Instead, we took a coach from Haneda airport to the Hotel New Otani and walked 10 minutes to our hotel Grand Arc Hanzomon, both of which are located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
As soon as we had arrived in Tokyo the heat was overwhelming, so the walk from one hotel to the other with our luggage was not pleasant. However, when we walked into the hotel we were greeted not only by the friendly staff, but by the heavenly air-conditioning!
The hotel was very clean, and the staff were so polite and helpful. We were asked to present our passports and then we were given a room key card each, some restaurant vouchers and the wifi code (although the wifi didn't always work in our room, some days we even had to go down to the reception just to check our email!)
The hotel also had a couple of vending machines on every floor (which we immediately took advantage of!) with fruit drinks, alcohol and canned coffee!
