We decided to meet up with my friend Hikaru (who lives in Shinagawa) at Ueno Zoo (cute pandas? What could be better?!)
Before we met Hikaru we had a look around Ueno park, which is just to the right of the Ueno station (when leaving via the Ueno Kouen exit). It had been raining that morning which was a little depressing, but fortunately by the time we reached the park it had subsided :)
Within in the park, we visited Kaneiji Temple, Toshogu Shrine, Kiyomizu Kannon Temple, Bentendo (an octagonal temple) and Shinobazu pond.
